Car Maintenance

Tonight we learned basic car maintenance, (THANK YOU CODY SEAGER!!!). We learned things like, how to change a flat tire, including:

~where to find the jack

~where to place the jack

~how to take the lug nuts off

~where to find the spare tire

~how to put the spare tire on
~how to put the lug nuts back on (*** remember the star pattern ***)

We also learned how to check oil level, and what to do if your car overheats. After the girls went through the whole process a few of the Young Men were timed on how fast they could change the tire. They did pretty well, but and so did our girls! We are now a little safer knowing these basic skills!!!

Babysitting Expo

Tonight's activity was a babysitting expo. Moms and Dads were able to bring their little ones to play, read, eat snacks, and get to know us a little better. The purpose of this activity was so that parents could see us interact with the kids and kids could get to know us, so helping us to babysit that much better!!

We had a really great turn out and we appreciate all the support from our wonderful ward family!

Today was great! We put together our lip synch for Friday night. We picked a song, gave parts and picked out costumes. We had lunch and then headed out for our hike. The hike was a little different this year, it was actually a wagon train. The girls reenacted a small portion of what the pioneers went through to help get us where we are today.

Leaders were not allowed to push or pull..... but leaders were known for breaking legs and having babies... thus needing rides in the handcart!

Along the way we stopped and talked to people who have been through the trek. This man, "Brother Bull" told us about his experiences, deciding to head west at the last minute, all his trials, and how he depended on the Lord.

Lexi, Pam, Sierra and Crystal taking their turns at the lead of the wagon.

At this stop we found out that our water got poisoned so we had to dump it all. It was really hot... the girls had a little appreciation of walking and doing strenuous work with no water. (don't worry - they got it back at the next stop!!)

At this stop we had angels singing beautiful mustic to us. They told us of so many people who have lost their lives and their children's lives along the way. A few of the girls had to burry their babies here.

At last we came to the end. We parked our handcart and walked over to meet "Bringham Young". It was very emotional and spiritual as he told us about the great sacrifice they (our ancestors) have made for us. The girls truly have a greater understanding and appreciation for how much work has gone in to building up the gospel as we know it today.

The girls did great. There was very little complaining - we actually sang primary songs as we walked along. They pulled together with team work and communication and it was awesome! We had no injuries... until AFTER the hand cart pull and Sierra slipped coming down a hill back to camp. She banged up her knee, but she's OK!

Ice Blocking

Middle Row - Keyonna, Tyrisha, Karissa, Crystal and Jenna
Front Row - Brielle and Brittany

Tonight for our Young Men and Young Women's activity we went ice blocking.

What is ice blocking? It's when you ride a block of ice down a grassy hill. I guess it's kind of like sledding...

Sister Bagley and Brittany went to the store and purchased ten blocks of ice.

Then they went to the park and laid all of the blocks of ice out on the grass so they would start melting (when they are a little melted they go faster!).

Then all of the young men and other young women met us at the park. It was SO MUCH FUN!

A lot of the kids and even leaders had never been ice blocking before so it was quite an adventure.

We held races over and over again to make it more fun... and it definitely became a competition!
We're happy to say that the Young Women weren't intimidated by the boys at all. Brittany even tackled the Bishop off his ice block so he wouldn't win - HA!
